Resilience: Beyond Fear
The Philippines sits within the so called “Pacific ring of fire”, and its basin in the Pacific Ocean are prone to a lot of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Thus making our country one of the world’s most disaster prone countries. First, the question is, what do you mean by resilient? Being resilient means facing difficulties head-on instead of falling into despair or using unhealthy coping strategies. By remaining aware, they can maintain control of a situation and think of new ways to tackle problems.
I personally think, that the national
Government is half-heartedly in doing its job. Had they given their best and
invested on infrastructures that will prevent flooding and other preventable
disasters, advance technologies that will enhance our performance during disasters
and machines needed to attend to victims after going through disasters, there wouldn’t
be so many lives wasted and or at stake if only we are ready and properly
equipped.
Though, I don’t blame the Government solely for this, take responsibility of our actions, if discipline starts at home, and within us, we may be able to reduce those disasters that are happening around us. Nature is charging us for our debts and for being irresponsible and disrespectful to our nature. We are the steward of our only one earth. We should do our part well.

ReplyDeleteI agree when you said our actions are what causes these disasters, and that we should do our part well in order to become more resilient. Good job!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is very well-made and informational if I do say so myself. I also think that the government is the one to entirely blame it's ourselves, the problem and solution start with us.
ReplyDeleteHello Matthew! It is true that the national government Is lacking on investing for the resiliency and preparedness of our country against calamities, again, you are correct that not all the blame should be shouldered by the government for we have lacked on some areas as well, the most evident is observing discipline as what you have mentioned. Very nice article, keep up the great work!
