Take Care of the Environment: Do Your Part

I have watched once a documentary film about how our environment, the oceans, the mountains, and even the air we breathe slowly dying because of the harmful acts of humans. Unaware of the abuse we do every day gives us no excuse for being guilty of our crime. Hence, my blog will make us aware of our duties and responsibilities in taking care of our environment.

On a personal note, I have actually joined a coastal clean-up in nearby town. And it’s not really that difficult, it is actually fun, knowing that you helped reduce the garbage that will possibly be thrown in the ocean makes you feel proud. We coordinated with the head of the barangay and allowed us to do our civic duties. Another way on how to protect our environment could actually be done on what in our home. Practice the 5R’s in waste management: Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, Respect and Responsibility. Cut down on what you throw away, donate things that are still usable, reuse things like plastic bottles, turning them into more meaningful objects. Bring your own eco bag when shopping, this will help reduce plastic usage. These are simple acts of being responsible. We may also plant a tree, we can start in our backyard or join groups. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air and help combat climate change. Conserve water! Less usage of water, less runoff and waste water that eventually end up in the ocean.

These are just some of the simple ways that we can practice to help protect and care for our environment. Taking care and protecting is everyone’s responsibility. God has created us a beautiful world for us to live in. It is our duty to protect, preserve and conserve it. Let us do our part and save our only planet.
