The Essence of Christmas, Amidst the COVID 19 Pandemic
“This
is the season to be jolly” that’s what we often hear when Christmas is just
around the corner. Display of lights and extravagant decors are usually hanged
in our houses, offices and even streets are decorated luxuriously. Christmas is
that time of the year which we wait for eagerly. People travel hundreds of
miles just to spend time with their loved ones during this holiday season. It
is the time for family get-togethers, exchange gifts and Santa. Truly,
Christmas is a time to rejoice before the year ends.
However, our Christmas 2020 and this year 2021 is very different from all the previous Christmas because of the ongoing pandemic. This deadly disease has already claimed so many lives. Because of this, strict implements of protocols and rules are being followed, where, Christmas parties mellowed, festival lights on the streets reduced, travel restrictions introduced and more. We were literally just staying at home. But, let it not be a hindrance from celebrating our favorite season even in simple ways. Put up some simple glittering lights and garlands to brighten up the mood. We can also shop online for gifts. Plan some fun activities in your home. Make a video call for loved ones spending Christmas away from home.
Here, we realized that it’s not about the fancy celebration of Christmas that matters, it is the real essence of it that counts, the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. For as long as your heart is pure and ready to accept Jesus, everything else are not very important. He is the reason for the season. That’s what matters most.

Great blog, Matthew. You explain what Christmas is, and I am still in awe of how Christmas makes us happy even if we were in the middle of a pandemic. Great Blog!!!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding blog I should say. You have expressed your points thoroughly . And yes, even though we were in a middle of a pandemic, wherein life could be chaotic and all, we still find positivity and happiness during these times.
